Weathervane

A MODERN Expression of the Pacific Northwest

Guided by nature. Crafted with intention.
Wines that reflect the season, the land,
and the timeless art of winemaking.

The wind may change,
but true direction
stays the same.

Weathervane is a contemporary collection of wines from organically farmed vineyards across Oregon’s northern Willamette Valley. Each vintage is a response to the season, crafted to express balance, freshness and the character of place. Nothing more and nothing less.

A philosophy
shaped by listening.

A weathervane doesn't create the wind. It responds to it.

That simple idea has guided Alberto Alcazar through more than 30 years of farming vineyards and making wine in the Willamette Valley.

His philosophy is rooted in observation rather than intervention: listen instead of impose, respond instead of control, and respect the land enough to let every vintage find its own voice.

That mindset shapes everything we do, from planting red clover between the vineyard rows to build healthier soils and encourage biodiversity, to every decision at harvest and in the cellar. The goal is never to make wines that taste like a winemaker’s signature, but to preserve the character of the vineyard and the season.

Hand Farmed

Every vineyard is worked by hand to preserve vine health and encourage natural balance. Cover crops enrich the soil, while high-trellis systems improve airflow, deepen root development, and protect fruit throughout the growing season.

Taste & Acidity Driven

Fruit is picked according to flavor development and natural acidity, ensuring each wine maintains freshness, vibrancy, and remarkable balance. Every cluster is hand harvested at its optimal moment.

Thoughtful Winemaking

Red wines receive a gentle three-day cold soak before fermentation in small open-top fermenters. Chardonnay is fermented and aged in neutral French oak, preserving purity, texture, and bright fruit without overwhelming oak influence.

From Oregon's Finest Vineyards.

Our vineyards stretch from Aurora to Hillsboro, capturing a diverse range of elevations and soils across Oregon’s northern Willamette Valley.

Every vineyard is farmed by our own team using organic practices. Cover crops improve soil health, fruit is harvested entirely by hand, and every picking decision is based on flavor and natural acidity rather than sugar alone.

In the cellar, intervention is intentionally minimal.

Pinot Noir undergoes a three-day cold soak before fermentation in one-ton open-top fermenters, followed by aging in French oak with only a modest percentage of new barrels.

Chardonnay is whole-cluster pressed, settled naturally, and fermented primarily in neutral French oak to preserve freshness and vineyard character.
